2013: The Year of Love and Strength

2013.

What a year.

It started out simple enough.  I was pregnant with our second child and life was pretty average.  Little did I know, I was about to take the ride of my life.  In February, Crazy Pants had his first seizure, and, we didn’t know it at the time, our lives were about to be turned upside down.  His seizures progressed and so did my pregnancy.  It was a rough summer, but then Teddy Bear came along.  My heart swelled with love the moment he was born and we were all so elated.  Then Teddy Bear’s hemangioma appeared and our journey as parents became even more trying.

Things are pretty normal now.  Everyone is in a holding pattern and we are making plans for the next year.  I can hardly believe the year we’ve had and that we’ve all made it out relatively unscathed.

2013 was the year of love and strength.

I have felt and received more love than I could have ever imagined and I have found a strength that I never knew I had.  For many years, my strength has been defined by over coming anorexia and bulimia and surviving two rapes, but these experiences pale in comparison to watching medical problems unfold within your children and being powerless to make any difference.

There is quite literally no way to express the overwhelming feeling of gratitude that fills my soul to bursting each and every day.

A Blessing for 2014:

May your trials and tribulations result in gratitude, love, and strength and when you have none of these things, may there always be someone to have them for you.

    • Inspiring others is always my hope. I make an effort to bring positivity out of my pain and struggle because it makes things easier to cope with and, hopefully, will help someone else with theirs. I hope you have a beautiful New Year 🙂
